This was DTL’s most popular lantern until they switched designs. The “wrap around” bail was described by DTL as solder-less, so the solder could not be loosened by heat. The lift wire is an almost exact mimic of Steam Gauge & Lantern’s “LW Tubular” lantern. LW stands for lift wire. It’s hard to date Dominion Tubular lanterns, I say 1885-92 because around 1885 DTL added the wire guard to their lanterns, and in 1892 DTL switched to a different design of lantern, so this model fits somewhere in there.
