1896-1904 Climax Crank

The third model of climax was the crank. Before lever lifts were common place especially on cold blasts, the term was called a crank lift. This is the second variation, the first had a vertical wire connected to the crown that went up over the top of the center tube and reconnected on the other side. Similar to a C.T. Ham lantern.

This lantern has some pitting issues, but overall it’s not too bad. Most interesting on this lantern is the crown is reversed. It’s likely this was a factory mistake, but just never caught before it shipped. Must have been made on a Monday.
